Nashville is the county seat of Davidson County, and Capitol to the State of Tennessee. Located along the banks of the Cumberland River, Nashville is home to the Country Music Hall of Fame and both NHL and NFL franchises, the Tennessee Titans and Nashville Predators.
Nashville was incorporated to a city in 1806. Since then it has high involvement in American historical events and culture. The city has high influence in country music, making Nashville to country what Hollywood is to the movie industry. A lot of the attractions of this city involve the performing arts. Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools serves the city with public schools for the area. Nashville also includes a large number of private schools. However, the main reason Nashville is considered the "Athens of the South" ( including Nashville’s own Parthenon in Centennial Park) is because of its numerous College and Universities that exist in and around the Nashville area.
